Back Pain Treatment in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg with Dry Needling & Physiotherapy
Individual support for back pain – from upper back to acute lumbago.
Back pain: from dull ache to sudden lockout
Back pain can feel very different. Sometimes it is that dull, pulling heaviness that builds up after a long day of sitting. Sometimes a stabbing pain that makes every step costly. And sometimes it strikes without warning – when bending, turning, lifting a bag – and suddenly nothing works anymore. Whether in the upper back, lower back or as acute lumbago (back pain / selkäkipu / rugpijn): I help you make sense of your complaints, understand possible influencing factors and develop a plan that fits your life.
It matters to me not to promise what I cannot deliver. What I offer is an honest assessment and sensible next steps worked out together. With warning signs – following an accident or trauma, fever, numbness, significant loss of strength, bladder or bowel problems, or severe night-time resting pain – please seek medical assessment.
How back pain can present
Perhaps you recognise one of these situations:
- Pain when sitting or getting up from a chair
- Complaints when bending, lifting, carrying or turning
- Morning stiffness or heaviness after prolonged sitting
- Tension that pulls into the neck, shoulder blade, buttocks or legs
- The question: "Can I move, or should I rest?"
Upper back
Tension between the shoulder blades, a feeling of tightness in the chest, complaints that worsen with screen work, long sitting or stress – this is a familiar pattern. Chest mobility and breathing can also play a role. I can help rebuild mobility and load capacity.
Lower back
Pain when sitting, lifting or standing for long periods; sometimes a feeling of instability, sometimes a persistent pulling sensation. I look at possible contributing factors – loading patterns, movement behaviour, muscle tension, stability – and build a suitable plan from there.
Lumbago
Lumbago often strikes without warning. It can feel like a shooting pain or an acute blockage, which is understandably alarming. A structured approach is often what helps most: regaining confidence, allowing graduated movement and supporting the recovery process.

How I can help
I work findings-oriented and combine different methods depending on the topic, progress and goal. The starting point is always a careful anamnesis: when does the pain occur, what makes it better or worse, what demands have there been recently? This is followed by a functional movement check – spinal mobility, hip and pelvis, trunk control, relevant muscle chains.
Depending on the findings, I can use manual techniques to help regulate tension and ease movement. Dry Needling is an optional addition when it suits muscular trigger points or tension states – and when you want it. Targeted exercises for stability, mobility and coordination complete the picture, along with practical guidance for daily life: how to lift and carry, sleep position, return to sport.
My goal is that after the appointment you not only feel treated, but know a clear and realistic next step.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to rest completely with back pain?
Not necessarily. Graduated movement can often help – depending on the findings and any warning signs. I help you find the right level of activity.
How do I know if it is "just tension" or something more serious?
This cannot always be determined by feel alone. I can collect indicators during the assessment and together with you clarify whether medical assessment is advisable – especially with warning signs.
What can I do with acute lumbago?
It often helps to allow movement in small, tolerable ranges and temporarily adapt load. I can help you regain a sense of safety and build a plan for the days ahead.
How many appointments will I need?
This is individual. Some issues can be well supported with a few sessions and a clear exercise plan, others benefit from a little more follow-up. I discuss this openly after the assessment.
Is dry needling useful for back pain?
It can support certain muscular tension states, but is not always necessary. I only use it when it suits your findings and you want it.
Should I bring scans (MRI/X-ray)?
If you have them: feel free to. They are not always needed, but can sometimes help to understand the history better – without jumping to conclusions.
